Now, maybe Cere would fall into the same trap, but there are many possibilities that open a story where Vader may not be personally involved. Keeping Star Wars ‘ Inquisitors involved would still be interesting, but just because they work for Vader doesn’t mean Vader has to be directly involved. Maybe while he’s “hunting” Cal, another character can be undertaking their own unique journey. Maybe there are new Dark Jedi, Dark Side Forces, Sith-like characters, and so on that could be introduced as threats to whoever the new protagonist

Having her completely turn away from her roots, as well as the Magick of her people, would not be a good look. It’s not something Merrin is likely to accept. Instead, allowing her to perhaps find a way to use Magick without the Dark Side or, at least, show how Merrin has control over this element of the Force could put her on a unique path.
